THANK YOU!
We would like to thank everyone who took part in the survey! The survey has now been completed and the results are currently being ana-lysed. The results of the „Mobility in Germany“ study are expected to be available by mid-2025.
What was it about?
The nationwide survey commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) and numerous regional partners analysed mobility in Germany. Information on the mobility behaviour of a representatively selected number of households and individuals from all over Germany was collected.
The study is being jointly conducted by the infas Institute for Applied Social Sciences, the Institute for Transport Research at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and IVT Research.
How did it work and what's next?
Over the course of a year, more than 185,000 randomly selected households were surveyed about their mobility behavior. This was done online, by telephone or by paper questionnaire in a two-stage process. In the first part of the survey, general questions were asked about the household and mobility equipment.
Following this first part of the survey, the households were given a randomly selected reporting day. On this fixed reporting day, all members of a household were asked to report on the journeys they had made - regardless of whether they had travelled on foot, by bike, by public transport or by car. Even if no journeys were made, this information was recorded.
The aim of the "Mobility in Germany" study is to depict mobility as it actually is. The collected data is currently being analyzed. This requires some time. The results are expected to be available by mid-2025.
The history of the study
This transport survey has been in existence since 1976. Since then, data on the use of transport and everyday mobility has been collected regu-larly. The current study "Mobility in Germany" builds on previous surveys and, in addition to presenting new topics, will continue to allow for time comparisons with earlier results.
